The culinary evolution of nostalgic food was studied and supported with palatable evidence from past and present popular restaurants and food and beverage brands, which artfully and strategically dished out nostalgia on menus and in, what often became, top-selling, crave-worthy products. Primary research regarding nostalgia as scientific and psychological literature was used to further illustrate the reoccurring incredible powers of nostalgia, especially in trying times of uncertainty. The author’s observation-based secondary research serves as another supporting tier to the book's ultimate conclusion – that America’s palate for nostalgic food, while it has its ups and down, is not a here-today, gone-tomorrow trend, but a mainstream cultural commodity rooted deep in our country’s appetite.

Counterfeiting is a significant and growing problem in both growing and well developed countries. The studies show that counterfeit products did not use any media advertisement still products can be sold in large quantities. Although role of WOM has been studied for many years for brand or well known products, limited attention has been given to explore the role of WOM in counterfeiting. We surveyed Indian and Taiwanese customers and found following role of WOM in counterfeiting. (1) WOM has significant role in locating counterfeit products, (2) WOM cannot considered as best purchasing driver, (3) referral marketing does work and people share their opinion among strong tie, (4) the impact of PWOM is generally greater than NWOM, and (5) most consumer share opinion that it is unethical to purchase counterfeit products. The author then discusses the implications of this research and offers recommendations for marketers of brand products.

This study empirically investigated the effects of consumer price perception dimension and reputation dimension on attitude toward private label brands among young Swedish consumers. Consumer price perception dimension includes value consciousness, price consciousness, and price-quality association factors. Reputation dimension includes retailer’s reputation, existence of word-of-mouth (WOM), positive WOM, and negative WOM. Measurement scales for consumer price perception dimensions were taken from Baltas (1997) and Burton et al. (1998). New measurement scales were developed for factors under the reputation dimension. The reliability and validity of all the factors used in the study have been discussed.

The Railways play a significant role in strengthening the volume of traffic as well as in providing better services to the passengers. The railway services should come up and encourage the passengers to opt for train travel. The Indian Railways is a historical legacy, is a vital force in Indian economy. India is a country with the largest railway network in Asia. The total length of railway tracks in India is about 1,14,000 kilometers and the Indian Railways is known to have a multigauge and multifraction system. It maneuvers both long distance and suburban rail systems. Indian Railways not only enjoys the monopoly but it is also one of the largest and busiest rail networks in the world. This study aims to examine the factors influencing the passengers to prefer train travel, the level of awareness, the level of opinion and the satisfaction level of the passengers about the services offered by the Indian Railways and the problems faced by the passengers both at the station and on-board and to suggest ways and means to improve its service. The analysis would be beneficial to the Railway Authorities to take action in improving the railway services offered to the passengers.

Performance failures are a part of everyday business in the service sector, they are unavoidable despite firms'' attempts to banish them. As service failures leave customers unsatisfied and unwilling to revisit the service provider, knowing how to restore them is invaluable. Service recovery copes with just that; the actions needed to overcome service transgressions. Two main components of service recovery, apology and compensation, are examined in this book. Mainly, it is studied: how do these components affect customers'' willingness to come back to the firm? In order to answer this question, two different types are specified for apology as well as compensation. In addition, their joint effects are analyzed, which reveals customers'' preference concerning a specific combination of the two elements. Finally, a third variable is introduced: trust. This variable, acknowledged for its influence in relationship marketing, is tested on its mediator function. The research is aimed at clarifying blurry areas in service recovery and adding to existing knowledge in this field. As such, service firms can benefit from the outcomes and are able to translate findings into real recovery actions.

Nowadays, so many different rules and guidelines exist, which give instructions on what a company should do, in order to be successful and have a positive global impact on all the related stakeholders. However, every day newspapers are full of compromising headlines which uncover big public scandals which occur even in very well known and respected companies. As it is extremely difficult or even impossible to avoid public scandals, the research question arises: How to improve public relations after being involved in a public scandal? The research question is answered while analyzing four case studies (Case 1: Johnson & Johnson Tampered Tylenol Capsules, Case 2: Exxon Valdez Oil Spill, Case 3: Real Meat Scandal, and Case 4: Nike Sweatshop) and developing What to Do and What Not to Do lists from literature, case studies, and expert opinion. Results of the thesis should be used for familiarizing the companies with existing strategies and best practices; however, in the end encouraging them to develop their own lists to be followed, in case a public scandal occurs.

The concept of SERVQUAL dimensions was deployed to assess the current level of customer satisfaction. Apart from the above, with the aid of statistical tools and appropriate methods of customer satisfaction measurement, the study gauges the relationship between service quality and customer satisfaction.

User needs and wants dictate the way products are designed, produced, used and disposed of. The creation of emotional attachment with possessions is one way of approaching sustainable consumer-product relationships. This research aimed to gain a deeper understanding of the role materials play in the interaction and emotional attachment consumers have with their products. A study determined the consumers'' concepts of six materials currently used in product design. The study findings show both physical and emotional consumer concepts of the six materials. It is, however, the interaction of these concepts that is the most significant finding of this research. Each material concept is not only judged emotionally by consumers in its own right but in relation to other concepts as well. The interaction of the consumers'' concepts of materials can considerably effect the emotional judgement made about the material and the appropriateness of its application. This research makes a significant contribution to knowledge regarding the effect materials have on the consumers by identifying how materials can prompt emotional judgements and thereby alter the product user experience.

In the recent past the smartphone market has developed rapidly and new suppliers have entered the market. The operators as channel partners have to decide how to shape and market their mobile phone portfolio. This paper explores the competitive landscape of the mobile smartphone market and the roles of the participating market players. Special attention is also given to the high technical complexity and an overview on the state-of-the-art technical systems is given. The objective of this master thesis is to give an outlook on the future smartphone market in terms of market shares and to explore the underlying influencing factors and future main applications. For the forecast and rating of influence factors a Delphi study was conducted among experts. On the one hand, the market shares were estimated and on the other, the most important influencing factors and future applications for the residential and business segment were rated.

The present research study being undertaken during the year 2012-13 in Wokha district of Nagaland for the assessment of production and marketing of banana. The present study comprises of 60 sample farmers, following the multi stage stratified random sampling technique. Channel I was the most effective for marginal and small group of farmer and Channel II was the most effective for medium group of farmer. The per hectare marketed surplus was highest for the medium group, the amount being 114.31 q followed by 112.52 q, 110.85 q for small and marginal group of farmer respectively. The highest marketing cost was in channel II, the amount being Rs 92.19/-. The marketing cost for Channel I was Rs 66.74/-. The marketing margin earned by the fruit vendor was Rs 142.94/- per quintal. In the present study, two marketing channels of banana in Wokha district of Nagaland The average family size of banana growers in the study area was found to be 6.31. In the present study an attempt was also made to study the problems faced by the farmer in production and marketing of banana in the study area. Pest and disease problem was the most felt by the respondent.
